Arduino Weather Station Anemometer Wind Vane

The Experiment: Arduino Based Weather Station Shield. Build a basic weather station  shield around an Arduino UNO  micro-controller with the following sensors Anemometer, Wind vane, Temperature, Humidity and Barometer.

Step 1: Build the Anemometer

Parts Required:

  1. One(1)  1/2″ PVC Sleeve
  2. One(4) 1/2″ PVC Plug
  3. Two(2) 1″ to 3/4″ PVC Reducer
  4. One(1) 3/4″ PVC pipe (about 6″ long)
  5. One(1) Small Magnet
  6. One(1) Miniature Reed Switch
  7. Two(2) Miniature Bearing (salvaged from PC Fan)
  8. Three(3) 1″5/8 Easter Eggs
  9. Three(3) 3/16 Cap Nuts
  10. Three(3) 3/16 Brass Nuts
  11. Three(3) 1/8″ by one(1) foot Aluminum Rod or 1/8″ by one(1) foot Steel Traded Rod

Step 2: Build the Wind vane

Parts Required:

  1. one(1) 1/2″ PVC End Cap
  2. One(1) 1/2″ PVC Sleeve
  3. One(2) 1/2″ PVC Plug
  4. One(1) 3/4″ PVC Sleeeve
  5. One(1) 360 NO Stop Precision Potentiometer
  6. One(1) Piece Thing Flashing (for tail)
  7. Two(1) 1/8″ by one(1) foot Aluminum Rod or 1/8″ by one(1) foot Steel Traded Rod

Step 3: Write the sketch

Parts Required:

  1. One(1) Arduino UNO or Any Compatible Micro Controller
  2. Software Auduino IDE
